ABOUT TICKETY BOO
Phil Nicholson and Rob Humphreys. Two guitars. Two voices. Years of friendship.
Tickety Boo is an acoustic duo from the North of England, built on honest songwriting, close harmonies and the belief that live music should create moments people remember long after the final song.
HOW IT BEGAN
Phil and Rob were introduced by a mutual friend and quickly discovered a shared passion for writing songs. Early demos, exchanged ideas and long evenings making music established a partnership founded on trust, honesty and creative chemistry.
Life briefly took them in different directions, but they never stopped sharing ideas. In 2014, a conversation over a drink led to a simple plan: borrow two acoustic guitars, play a handful of gigs together and then return to their bands.
Their first local open-mic performance felt like Wembley. They played everything they had rehearsed, the audience asked for more, and a close friend persuaded them to perform an original song that had never been intended for a crowd. The room’s response proved they had found something worth pursuing.
FROM ONE NIGHT TO HUNDREDS OF SHOWS
That first nervous appearance became hundreds of performances, countless memories and a musical partnership shaped by every venue, audience and conversation along the way.
Tickety Boo was never created to chase fame or follow trends. It grew naturally from friendship, a love of performing and the desire to make real connections through music.
THE SOUND
Two acoustic guitars can carry a surprising amount of energy. Phil’s intricate picking and lead playing and Rob’s driving rhythm sit beneath two distinctive voices, blending acoustic storytelling with country-rock, indie and classic songwriting influences.
The songs move through trust, love, loss, work, friendship, resilience and hope. Whatever the subject, the aim remains the same: tell the truth and make it count.
ONE LIGHT LEFT
Those years of friendship and performance now lead to One Light Left, Tickety Boo’s debut album and title single, released 6 February 2027.
At the centre of the project is a message of hope for anyone facing depression or declining mental health: however dark life becomes, there is always one light left. The campaign supports Andy’s Man Club, helping to raise awareness, encourage conversation and prevent male suicide.
